With their favorite driver's permission, the alternative rock band Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is ready for the big time.

The Detroit-based tandem of Joshua Epstein and Daniel Zott wanted to name themselves after their favorite athlete, NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., but sought permission beforehand. Unlike NFL Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, who was less than thrilled to see a band use his name, the 36-year-old driver of the No. 88 car was more than OK with the title.

"We actually wrote him a letter, and a couple of weeks ago he wrote back," Zott said in an interview earlier in the week. "He was all about the name. He was flattered that a band would use his name. He thought it was funny. He's a fan of our music."

The duo made their major-label debut this week with the release of It's A Corporate World on Warner Bros. Records Inc.
