The New York Rangers are in need of a new captain.

Chris Drury will accept a buyout from the team on Wednesday, according to the New York Post, a move that will end his four-year stint with the Blueshirts.

Drury, who turns 35 in August, will be paid $3.3 million by the Rangers, according to the report, which adds that it would have been $5 million had he applied for a medical exception. He played in just 24 regular-season games and five playoff games in 2010-11. He signed a five-year, $35.25 million contract in the 2007 offseason, and the following season was his most productive year in New York (25 goals, 33 assists).

"It was a great honor and privilege to be a New York Ranger for the past four years, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to fulfill that childhood dream," Drury, a Connecticut native, told the Post. "The Rangers are a first-class organization with great people in the hockey, public relations, team services and community relations departments."
