Fenway Park Opens Gates For Two Soccer Matches, One Football Game During Red Sox’ Dismal 1925 Season

The Boston Red Sox finished dead last with an American League-worst 47-105 record in 1925.

With a dismal season, Fenway introduced some new sporting entertainment. Two soccer matches were held at Fenway for the first time in the park's history in October of 1925. The Boston Beacons of the American Soccer league played Providence as part of the introduction of the sport to the park

Fenway also hosted amateur football and baseball teams during the season. The Hartford Blues defeated St. Alphonsus 10-0 in an amateur football game during the fall.
