Jaromir Jagr could return to the NHL with the same team that first brought him into the league back in 1990.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have offered Jagr a one-year contract worth $2 million, according to Yahoo Sports. Pittsburgh expects to hear an answer from Jagr's agent, Petr Svoboda, by Wednesday.

"I've been on record a few times with the media about the attributes of Jaromir Jagr, [and they] are still really good," Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma told Yahoo Sports. "There are things that I think he could add to our team."

The Penguins, who saw injuries to top skaters Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, were eliminated from the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Lightning this past spring.

"If Jaromir Jagr hypothetically were to fit in, I don't think we’d have to change everything drastically for him to able to fit in," Bylsma said. "If you watched Jaromir play in the World Championships, his play down low [was] outstanding.

"We're a team that wants to play in the offensive zone," he added. "There’s a speed part to our game, but it really lies largely in playing in the offensive zone and wearing teams down. I don’t think he has missed much of a beat in that regard to his game. Hypothetically speaking, that’s where I see him fitting in."

Svoboda has been shopping Jagr around the league, but Pittsburgh is the only team that has reportedly made an offer so far. A return to his first club would make him the NHL's active leader in points.
