Shaquille O’Neal’s Rookie Season Remains One of the Best in NBA History

With Friday’s news of Shaquille O’Neal’s retirement, the 19-year career of one of the NBA’s best centers came to an end.

While O’Neal failed to bring a championship to Boston in his one season wearing the Green and White, his final season was entertaining to say the least.

While he said goodbye to the basketball world this week, it was Shaq’s welcome to the NBA that immediately made his presence known in his debut season of 1992-93. The first-overall pick of the Orlando Magic averaged 23.4 points, 13.9 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game as a 20-year-old rookie.
