After playing its most recent concert at Spartan Stadium, U2 will shell out over a quarter-million dollars to the Michigan State athletic department.
And all of that money will be used for new grass, ThePostGame reports.
U2, the popular rock band out of Ireland, completed the latest edition of its 360 tour with a performance Sunday night at the East Lansing, Mich., stadium. In addition to the 65,000 screaming fans and over 500 crew members in attendance, a 60-ton stage and a 14,000 square foot video screen were constructed for the show, which only added to the field's destruction.
Therefore, U2 has agreed to cover the approximately $253,000 cost to resurface the entire Spartan Stadium field. The new grass will reportedly arrive July 11, and the field should be repaired well before summer workouts begin in August.
While Michigan State athletic director Greg Ianni called the band's performance "something else," it's safe to say the school won't be hosting a concert of that magnitude anytime soon.
"I'm not sure if or when we will ever see anything like that or who the band will be to do it. But I think it will be a while before we see anything like that again," he said.
