Zach Parise and the New Jersey Devils are at a contract standstill, and the impasse may lead to arbitration, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Parise, whose knee surgery caused him to miss most of the 2010-11 season, told Tom Gulitti of Fire and Ice that he is preparing for the possibility of arbitration. New Jersey's general manager, Lou Lamoriello, declined to comment.
The Devils and Parise have had almost two months to work on his contract, and the deadline to file for arbitration is next week.
The 26-year-old Parise, who scored the game-tying goal against Canada in the 2010 Winter Olympics, has spent six seasons with the Devils since being drafted in the first round in 2003. He has scored 31 or more goals four times, including a career-high 45 in 2008-2009.
