Report: American League Official Suggests GMs Could Be Overvaluing Players, Too Insecure to Make Deadline Deals

While MLB trade rumors usually spread like wild fires this time of year, the trade talk this season has been relatively tepid. Teams are certainly discussing moves, but we haven't seen teams be as aggressive as in years past — and it could be because GMs are scared.

An American League official told Scott Miller of CBSSports.com "I bet seven out of 10 general managers you can't deal with," suggesting that they're too timid to make a move while also overvaluing their players.

With more than 15 teams eyeing playoff spots, many sellers may be hoping to take advantage of teams that are looking for that one final piece of their puzzle.

During last season's trade deadline, players like Matt Capps, Edwin Jackson and Ted Lilly were traded for highly touted prospects.
