Jason Bay and the left field wall at Dodger Stadium have a history, and it's not a good one. Bay's faceplant into the wall in 2010 ended his season and began a downward spiral that doomed the New York Mets to yet another embarrassing, disappointing finish.

The former Red Sox outfielder returned to the scene of that incident Monday and wasted no time in getting reacquainted with his assaulter. Bay again went head-first into the wall chasing a fly ball during the sixth inning of the Mets' 5-2 win over the Dodgers.

This time, Bay managed to brace himself before the impact.

"It's just funny," Bay told the New York Daily News. "What are the odds? … It could have happened anywhere, but the fact that it happened here just adds to the insanity."

Bay, who singled in the winning run in the tenth inning for the Mets on Sunday, banged his knee on the play.

From Mets manager Terry Collins' perspective, the collision was a good thing, in a way.

"It tells you what kind of player [Bay] is," Collins said. "He didn't shy from it."
