J.D. Drew Gets Rare Start Against Left-Handed Pitcher As Red Sox Face Blue Jays’ Brett Cecil

A few Red Sox are in unaccustomed positions in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Dustin Pedroia bats cleanup with Kevin Youkilis out. Youkilis was hit high on his back near his neck Monday and left the game. Yamaico Navarro replaces him at third base and will bat ninth.

J.D. Drew gets a rare start against a left-handed pitcher in Brett Cecil. Drew had been in a platoon with Mike Cameron, who was designated for assignment last week. Drew bats eighth in just his sixth start this season when an opposing left-hander is on the mound.

Cecil (1-3, 7.24 ERA), who celebrated his 25th birthday Saturday, is searching for his first win since April 15. That game was also in Boston; Cecil has gone winless in four starts outside Fenway Park and has made it into the seventh inning only once.

Jon Lester (10-4, 3.43) ended June on a run of strong pitching he hopes to continue. He pitched at least seven innings in three of his last four starts, and despite losing two of those four he did not give up more than three earned runs in any of those starts.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
