The Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade didn’t win an NBA championship ring this year but he could end up with a championship wing — a chicken wing, that is.
Back on July 1, thanks to the then impending NBA lockout, the superstar jokingly sought out new jobs through Twitter.
Kentucky Fried Chicken liked what it read from Wade’s fake resume, and they decided they wanted to hire back their one-time employee.
The United State’s general manager of the fried chicken franchise, John Cywinski, sent a letter to Wade, saying (tongue firmly in cheek) that the chain is always looking for someone with “the ability to make buckets in a hurry.”
Cywinski also informed Wade that if he served as an honorary captain at any local KFC drive-thru, then the franchise would donate $250,000 in Wade’s name to the KFC scholarship fund, Colonel’s Scholars. The manager also hinted that he may throw a few of KFC’s secrets Wade’s way if the All-Star accepts the offer.
It sounds like a silly publicity stunt, but it wouldn’t be the first time an athlete decided to kill some lockout boredom by working at a fast-food chain.
