When David Ortiz hinted a little over a week ago that some changes could be coming to this Monday's State Farm Home Run Derby, he probably didn't have real gold baseballs in mind.

Major League Baseball announced Thursday that partially gold baseballs will be used every time a batter gets down to his final out. State Farm, in conjunction with the MLB, will donate $18,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of America anytime a golden ball leaves the yard, and $3,000 for every homer that is hit with a regular baseball.

The balls will feature one panel apiece that is made out of 24-karat gold leather.
