PlayStation 3 to Carry DirecTV's 'NFL Sunday Ticket' for 2011 Season It's safe to say that football fans everywhere are going to consider purchasing a PlayStation 3 before the NFL season gets underway.

That's because PS3 owners can have full access to NFL Sunday Ticket this season. Wondering how?

"At the start of the season," writes SCEA senior vice president Philip Rosenberg, "viewers who do not currently have access to DirecTV will be able to subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket at the season price of $339.95. Existing DirecTV customers can access the service on their PS3 for an additional $50 and use the PS3 as an additional receiver for your home.

"We are excited to announce that PlayStation has partnered with DirecTV to bring its popular sports subscription service, NFL Sunday Ticket, to the PlayStation 3 game console," he added. "PlayStation owners across the country will now have the opportunity to watch every out-of-market Sunday game on their PS3."

For those unfortunate individuals who don't know, NFL Sunday Ticket is a DirecTV-exclusive sports package that offers up to 14 NFL games every Sunday, full HD for every football game and DirecTV’s Red Zone Channel.

"We know that PlayStation fans are huge sports enthusiasts, so adding NFL SUNDAY TICKET is the perfect complement to the PS3’s rapidly growing lineup of sports entertainment, including MLB.TV and NHL GameCenter," Rosenberg added.

It sounds like Xbox owners will have to wait at least one more year, as the Sunday Ticket service isn't coming to the Xbox in 2011, according to DirecTV.

"This isn't an exclusive deal but right now there aren't any plans to bring it to any other game console makers this season," said DirecTV spokesman Robert Mercer.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"The next day Rondo shot the ball horribly. He stopped taking shots after that. He's so sensitive. I think it was a real jolt to hear the outside perception of a basketball fan who happens to be the President of the United States. It messed with his mind. I'm sure of it."
