Mike Milbury was known for his defense on the ice, but it was the former Bruin defending a teammate off the ice that made him a household name.

In a 1979 game between the Bruins and Rangers at Madison Square Garden, a fan managed to cut Stan Jonathan as players on both teams fought. Milbury, who was already heading off the ice at the time, ran into the stands, grabbed the spectator and began slapping him with a shoe in retaliation.
