Maria Sharapova Ranks No. 1 on Forbes List of World’s Highest-Paid Female Athletes, Danica Patrick No. 3

Maria Sharapova has had difficulty closing out big tournaments in recent years, but those struggles have not extended to her bank account.

For the seventh year in a row, Sharapova tops Forbes magazine’s list of the highest-paid women’s professional athletes. Her income of about $25 million was nearly twice that of top-ranked tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, who is No. 2 on the list.

Auto racer Danica Patrick checks in at No. 3 on the list, reeling in about $12 million in the past year, while tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams rank No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.
