Steve Jobs' innovations have helped the way in which we digest news, including sports and entertainment content. The Apple CEO resigned on Wednesday, which may or may not not have a major impact on the technology industry — only time will tell that, of course.
But Jobs' resignation serves as friendly reminder of the incident that reportedly occurred between him and ESPN president George Bodenheimer in 2006.
In Those Guys Have All The Fun: Inside the World of ESPN, a book released by James Andrew Miller in May, Miller tells of when Jobs met Bodenheimer just after Disney, which owns ESPN, bought Pixar.
Bodenheimer reportedly decided to introduce himself to the Apple CEO, at which point Jobs shared a piece of his mind.
Upon the introduction, Jobs reportedly looked at him and said nothing except, "Your phone is the dumbest [expletive] idea I have ever heard."
Then, he turned and walked away.
The phone he was likely referring to was a phone put out by ESPN and Samsung that cost the company a reported $135 million. So yes, as Jobs so bluntly noted, it certainly wasn't one of Disney's (and ESPN's) brightest ideas.
Given his boldness and "say what's on your mind" personality, perhaps Jobs should have delved into the world of sports ownership — after all, he's got the money.
