Bruins Excited to Get Away From Monotony of Training Camp, Play Scrimmage in Providence Before Heading to Ottawa for Exhibition

The Bruins will play a scrimmage on Tuesday at the home of the team's AHL affiliate in Providence. And while it isn't quite the grand stage of the Stanley Cup Final, the B's are a bit anxious to take part in it.

Defensemen Dennis Seidenberg and Andrew Ference are among those eager to play in a game alongside their other teammates and some of the organization's younger players. Seidenberg said it will also be nice to play in front of fans who have been waiting all summer for hockey to return, while Ference admits he expects the game to still be competitive.

"I don't think anybody expects it just to be a quiet little scrimmage," Ference said.

If nothing else, the scrimmage will serve as a tune-up for the team's first preseason game against Ottawa on Wednesday.
