Joe Johnson’s Sneaker Closet Has Fingerprint Sensor to Protect Former Celtic’s 436 Pairs of Kicks

Former Boston Celtic guard Joe Johnson has a 500-square-foot closet just for his shoes.

That's not the crazy part.

The crazy part is that the Atlanta Hawks star has a security system for said closet that includes a fingerprint sensor so nobody messes with his Rod Lavers.

"I wanted to display all of my shoes, so I had this 500-square-foot closet made," Johnson tells ESPN the Magazine's Stacey Pressman. "I just thought this would be a cool idea, and it would almost look like a museum. I had a fingerprint sensor put on the door to make sure I'm the only one who can get in here.

"I mostly wear Air Jordans. All of the Jordan guys are selected by Michael Jordan himself. It's kind of hard to tell MJ no. I have 436 pairs of sneakers in here, and they're mostly unworn. I'll wear all of them eventually."

Johnson publicizing this probably won't sit well with the NBA Players Association, which has urged its members to avoid publicizing their insane wealth during the lockout.

Still, before you all start trashing Johnson for having an electronically secured, 500-square-foot closet for his unworn shoes, keep in mind that every NBA team owner probably has a similar setup for his specially tailored $4,000 suits and Italian loafers.
