Nifty Scorer Rick Middleton Added to Roster for Nov. 13 Providence Bruins Alumni Game
The Providence Bruins announced Wednesday that former Bruins scorer Rick Middleton has been added to the roster for the Bruins Alumni Game on Nov. 13.
Nicknamed “Nifty” for his dazzling work with the stick, Middleton scored 402 goals and added 497 assists in 12 seasons with the Black and Gold from 1977-1988. His 898 points is the fourth-most in Bruins history.
The Toronto native enjoyed his best season in 1981-82 when he scored a career-high 51 goals and won the Lady Byng Trophy. During the 1983 Stanley Cup playoffs, Middleton set a record with 33 playoff points, the most points scored by any player who failed to reach the Cup Final. The record still stands today.
