Report: Rick Adelman to Become New Timberwolves Head Coach

The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to name Rick Adelman as the team's 10th head coach, according to an ESPN.com report citing a league source.

Adelman, 65, and 71-year-old Don Nelson have been considered the finalists for the position, which has been open since Kurt Rambis was fired on July 12. Rambis was 32-112 in two seasons with Minnesota.

The prospect of signing Adelman was positive enough for Wolves All-Star forward Kevin Love to take to his Twitter account to proclaim the news.

"Houston, we have a coach," Love tweeted Monday afternoon.

Finding a coach to Love's liking is important for the Wolves in order for the club to re-sign their franchise cornerstone.

"When I talked about the prospect of me re-signing, I always said one of the things we'd have to have is a great coach," Love told the Minnesota Star-Tribune. "If it's true, we've got a great coach."

Adelman is 945-616 in 20 NBA seasons as a head coach.
