BOSTON — Like most New Englanders in the fall, the Bruins were very slow on Monday morning.
The B’s, however, won’t be blaming the Patriots and the joy of Sundays during the NFL season.
Members of the Black and Gold have been seemingly celebrating everywhere and anywhere all offseason and that party ended on Sunday when they took the Stanley Cup to Gillette Stadium to present the world’s most famous trophy to the Patriots and their fans.
While it’s easy to point at this outing as a cause for the B’s slow start on Monday afternoon at the TD Garden against the Avalanche, head coach Claude Julien made sure that the Foxboro festivities had no impact on Monday’s lackluster 1-0 loss.
“One thing I’m going to clarify right now is [Sunday] had nothing to do with us [Monday],” he said. “It was great for the guys, it was great that the Patriots acknowledged us.
“As professionals, you should be able to turn the page the next day and do your job,” he added. “So if there’s somebody to blame, it’s ourselves and nobody else.
