Mock Major League Baseball Playoff Format Pokes Fun at Postseason’s Low Television Ratings
In light of low TV ratings for the Major League Baseball postseason, the website Tauntr put its best graphic artists to work devising a new playoff format.
The proposed restructuring would pit the Red Sox and Yankees against each other in the American League Championship Series every year. The two clubs would automatically qualify every season and would face opponents from big TV markets.
The powerhouse Phillies and the L.A. team (apparently controlled by commissioner Bud Selig in this format) would play a meaningless series, with Selig choosing which team he wanted in the World Series.
The Red Sox and Yankees would alternate appearances in the Fall Classic, with the Red Sox getting all the odd years.
