Al Davis Remembered Positively on Twitter by NFL Players, Personalities

There were many conflicting views of Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis when he lived — some called him crazy while others applauded his football genius. After Davis' death, it didn't take long for football players and personalities to bombard Twitter with tweets commemorating him.

"RIP Al Davis 1929-2011…When everyone wrote me off he saw something in me…For tht I'm forever thankful," Raiders linebacker Quentin Groves tweeted.

In addition to Groves, a few other Raiders — including running back Michael Bush and fullback Marcel Reece — thanked Davis for giving them a chance in the NFL.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell issued a four-part statement on Twitter, alluding to how Davis influenced the league. Many former players, including recent Hall of Fame inductee Marshall Faulk, said Davis was a great football pioneer.
