Northeastern Forward Mike McLaughlin Says Rowdy Game Atmosphere Is What Drew Him to College Hockey

Mike McLaughlin grew up in a small town in Ontario playing pick-up hockey on frozen ponds. Surely, he would take the path so many Canadian players before him took heading to play junior hockey, right? Not so fast.

McLaughlin is now a senior forward for the Northeastern hockey team where he has grown accustomed to the ways of life as a college player living in Boston. He says that taking in a college game as a child is what turned him on to the college game, something that was reinforced in him when he traveled to Northeastern for a recruiting visit and saw a Beanpot game.
