After an afternoon practice in Detroit, Crosby was asked about his status. He answered with a simple "No," adding that he has not yet been cleared for contact practice.
"I wouldn't expect it," Crosby said. "When we get back from the trip, maybe I'll see a doctor then."
Crosby has been practicing without contact since the start of training camp on Sept. 18. He will travel with the team for their season-opening road trip, which has stops in Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton.
"Knock on wood, everything is progressing for him, it appears," Penguins general manager Ray Shero said. "On the ice he's practicing hard, and that's a big part of his recovery."
Shero also added that there is no set date for his return.
Crosby hasn't played since sustaining a concussion on Jan. 6.
"Every day I just try and go as hard as I can," Crosby said. "Hopefully things will keep going as they're going."
