Dustin Pedroia and Brad Marchand have a lot in common. They’re both fiercely competitive. Both of them are unafraid to trash talk or get under their opponent’s skin. And they both love video games. Add it all up, and you have the dream video game showdown.
The two fan favorites recently used their weekly radio appearances to talk about the prospects of a possible Call of Duty showdown.
Last week, making an appearance on WEEI’s Mut and Merloni Show, Marchand was asked about whether or not he’d be open to taking on Pedroia in a COD showdown.
When told by Lou Merloni that Pedroia thinks “he can kick anyone’s ass” in the wildly popular video game, Marchand responded with a surprised “Really?” before saying he’d be up to the challenge.
“Let me practice for a little bit, get into the game, and then I’m definitely down for that,” he said.
Naturally, Pedroia was asked about a potential matchup on his weekly radio spot on The Big Show. Unsurprisingly, the fiery second baseman was ready to take on Marchand right away.
“He doesn’t need to talk about, tell him to bring it,” Pedroia said. “I’m ready. I’m ready all the time.
“I’ve started playing the new game. I’m locked in. I’m locked in for an hour after my son goes to bed, and I get after it.”
Boston sports fans can surely agree that this needs to happen, and it needs to happen fast.
