Joe Frazier, Matty Alou, Bob Forsch’s Deaths Bring Heaven Three Talented Athletes

The world lost three talented athletes when Joe Frazier, Matty Alou and Bob Forsch died. The boxer, outfielder and pitcher all died within a week of each other, leaving decorated legacies behind.

But with their deaths, heaven gains a batting champion, boxing champion and a pitcher who threw two no-hitters. Cartoonist Will O’Toole depicts the addition of Frazier’s boxing gloves, Forsch’s baseball mitt and Alou’s bat to Heaven in the cartoon above.

Since graduating from Seton Hall University, Will O’Toole has been doing cartoons for over 30 years for a number of papers (USA Today), magazines (College and Pro Football Weekly) and websites (CBSSportsline.com). He is believed to be the only national cartoonist to have voted for the Heisman Trophy and the Wooden and Naismith Awards.
