The Jerry Sandusky situation at Penn State, and the ensuing debate regarding coach Joe Paterno's future, is disgusting. And while the university tries to deal with the mess, acting director of athletics Mark C. Sherburne is using the school's athletics website to express his devastation.

Sherburne vows to restore the trust that's been broken as a result of the situation.

Former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky has been accused of child sex charges, leading to some questions as to whether other members of the university did enough to prevent his alleged actions.

Below is a screengrab of Sherburne's statement, which appears on the index page of the school's athletics website, GoPSUSports.com.
