Albert Pujols Loses Out on Chance to Join Stan Musial, Bob Gibson as One of Cardinals’ Greats

Albert Pujols
is now $250 million richer, but he may have lost something much more valuable.

The free-agent first baseman lost out on the chance to become the greatest player in the history of one of baseball's great franchises by taking a 10-year offer to sign with the Los Angeles Angels. Cardinals greats Stan Musial and Bob Gibson will continue to stand atop the heap in St. Louis in a scene depicted in the cartoon above by Will O'Toole.

Since graduating from Seton Hall University, Will O'Toole has been doing cartoons for over 30 years for a number of papers (USA Today), magazines (College and Pro Football Weekly) and websites (CBSSportsline.com). He is believed to be the only national cartoonist to have voted for the Heisman Trophy and the Wooden and Naismith Awards.
