MLB Rumors, News Forever Changed Due to Twitter’s Increased Use Among Fans, Media

As recently as 15 years ago, the news cycle was very regimented. You got your newspaper in the morning and you watched the news at night. Any news that broke during the day happened on the radio and then by word of mouth.

Suffice it so say, things are a little bit different these days. With the Internet — and particularly Twitter — news travels as fast as it takes to type up a sentence. For proof of this, look no further than this week's MLB winter meetings in Dallas, where dozens of reporters will be tweeting information from sources that 10 years ago might have never been made public.

Despite the growth of Twitter, not everyone is catching on very quickly, as Will O'Toole shows in the cartoon above.

Since graduating from Seton Hall University, Will O'Toole has been doing cartoons for over 30 years for a number of papers (USA Today), magazines (College and Pro Football Weekly) and websites (CBSSportsline.com). He is believed to be the only national cartoonist to have voted for the Heisman Trophy and the Wooden and Naismith Awards.
