Report: Marlins Will Not Pursue Prince Fielder Because He ‘Can’t Drive Latin Market’ Like Albert Pujols

Though the Marlins lost out on the Albert Pujols sweepstakes, it appears the club will not go after runner-up prize Prince Fielder.

According to a tweet from Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Miami will not attempt to sign free agent Fielder because Fielder "can't drive Latin market like Pujols could have."

The Marlins, who will move to a brand new stadium in 2012, ranked in the bottom third of major league in attendance last season and are seeking bigger crowds for next season.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 65 percent of Miami-Dade County residents are of Hispanic or Latino origin. Pujols was born in the Dominican Republic.
