Drew Brees has done the impossible, stealing the spotlight from Aaron Rodgers amid an unforgettable season for the Packers quarterback. Brees did so by eclipsing Dan Marino's single-season passing yardage mark on Monday Night Football, adding to his case against Rodgers for NFL MVP.
Oh, and there's also another quarterback named Tom Brady who's still playing.
The season of the elite quarterback has that trio looking like this in the NFL:
QB Rating | Passing Yards | Touchdowns | Completion percentage | Yards per attempt | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Aaron Rodgers | 1st | 3rd | 1st | 2nd | 1st |
Drew Brees | 2nd | 1st | 2nd | 1st | 6th |
Tom Brady | 3rd | 2nd | T-3rd | 3rd | 2nd |
More important than all those stats, though, is each player's win-loss record. Rodgers is 14-1, while both Brees and Brady are 12-3. They are unquestionably the best three quarterbacks in the game.
While nobody (well, at least we think nobody) would argue against Brady's entire career being better than both Brees and Rodgers, the question is right now, who's the best quarterback in the NFL?
