Dallas Braden Tattoo Features Rollie Fingers Riding Dolphin, But Is It Real? (Photo)

Tattoos last a lifetime, but the permanence hasn’t kept ink from going through its share of fads.

In the 1990s it seemed like everybody got thorns or barbed wire inked on their upper arms. In the early 2000s, the tat du jour was a tribal design — if you were a former heavyweight champ, maybe you even put one on your face.

Fortunately, Dallas Braden isn’t one to follow the crowd. The Oakland A’s posted a Facebook photo of the pitcher sporting a tattoo that is truly timeless: Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers riding a dolphin through a rainbow.

OK, “timeless” might be a bit of a stretch. Judging by the photo, it’s a temporary tattoo.

At the very least, though, Braden provided a solid alternative for anybody looking to replace their barbed wire tat, because those things are just plain awful.

Real? Probably not, but still pretty sweet.

Julian Edelman and Mario Manningham are actually the same height, and Edelman outweights Manningham by 13 pounds, but we get your point.
