John Elway: Tim Tebow Has ‘Earned the Right’ to Enter 2012 Season as Starting Quarterback

Despite the dismal ending to the 2011 season, Tebow Time will be back in 2012.

Broncos executive vice president of football operations John Elway met with the media on Monday, and he offered support to Tim Tebow.

"Tim has earned the right to be the starting quarterback going into training camp next year," Elway said. "He made some good strides."

Tebow went just 9-for-26 for 136 yards and no touchdowns against the Patriots, unceremoniously ending a season that had been filled with spectacular comebacks and miracle finishes.

Elway, who lost his first two playoff games before getting his first win, said he plans to help Tebow develop any way he can.

"There are things that I can add," Elway said, according to the team's official Twitter page. "Where I can help him … I'm looking forward to it."

Tebow is under contract for the foreseeable future, but the Broncos will still need to look into the market for a backup, Elway said.
