How was your New Year’s Day? If you participated in any sort of overzealous celebrations of one year giving way to another, you were probably left with a pretty mean headache on Jan. 1.
And if that was the case, your day was still better than Michael Vite‘s.
Vite, a Chicago man, was arrested on Sunday morning, after he broke into Wrigley Field in an attempt to snatch some of the old ballpark’s famed ivy.
CBS Chicago reports (hat tip to Deadspin) that Vite broke into the stadium at about 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning (perhaps trying to prolong a night of New Year’s celebration). According to Chicago police, he grabbed some of the ivy and attempted to escape but was apprehended by police. He’s being charged with criminal trespassing.
No word on whether or not Vite is a Red Sox fan, trying once and for all to settle the compensation between the Cubs and Red Sox for the departure of former Boston general manager Theo Epstein.
