Novak Djokovic Outlasts Rafael Nadal to Win Australian Open in Longest Final Match In Major History

After a five-hour match on Friday, Novak Djokovic had less than two days to rest up for his championship match against Rafael Nadal. After nearly six hours of sweating and grunting Sunday, Djokovic managed to win his third consecutive major title in the longest major match since 1988.

The Serbian tennis star defeated Nadal for the seventh straight time, coming back from being down 2-4 in the fifth and final set. Djokovic continued to prove he is one of Nadal's only formidable foes now that legend Roger Federer has slipped out of the top spot.

Djokovic has now won four straight Grand Slam Finals, and after some rest and relaxation will be on the hunt for his fifth straight at the upcoming French Open — an event that Nadal has won six times in his career.

Tennis fans around the world will be talking of this match for years to come, or at least until the two stars face off again later this season.
