In addition to dealing with his concussion problems, Crosby was reportedly suffering from a neck injury, according to Bob McCown of Sportsnet 590 The Fan. The Pittsburgh Penguins star was concerned about the treatment he was receiving and saw a specialist in Utah that was recommended by friend and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
During that visit, it was discovered that there was a problem with Crosby’s C1 and C2 vertebrae, but he has supposedly recovered from that injury.
Crosby suffered a major concussion last January and had been on the shelf until last November. The superstar only played in eight games before being shut down again for concussion-like symptoms.
Crosby will meet with doctors this week to discuss his recovery from his concussion. The 24-year-old has also been meeting with neurological spine surgeons and chiropractors.
There is no timetable for Crosby’s return, as the Penguins have said that the star will not return until he has a clean bill of health.
