Darrell Bailey has been the perfect fan for 15 years.
The LA Clippers die-hard has been an everlasting presence at home games for each of the last 15 seasons, despite the team being less than impressive. Through each of their 14 sub-.500 seasons (the Clippers only winning season came in 2005-06), Bailey showed an incredible dedication that earned him the nickname "Clipper Darrell."
But now, all that time in his Clippers-themed suit is for naught. The Clippers informed Bailey on Wednesday that he would no longer be permitted to use the Clippers brand in his name.
It is with great sadness 2 say this that I have been told by @LAClippers front office that they no longer want me 2 b Clipper Darrell

In addition to his tweet, Bailey posted on his blog to inform his fans of the news, and the response has been an outpouring of support. Even some of the Clippers players have expressed support for Bailey.
Blake Griffin went so far as to demand Clipper Darrell be reinstated. Chris Paul went with a more personal approach, tweeting directly at Bailey a heartfelt "WE GOT YOU!!!"
Whether or not the Clippers management will back off the decision is yet to be seen. But it goes without saying that franchise shouldn't spurn its most loyal fans just as the team is on the rise.
Genuine support for a young and talented team can make all the difference come playoff time, and taking out Clipper Darrell will likely leave many fans with a bad taste in their mouth and some animosity toward the franchise.
