Coleen was at the Manchester Arena watching the performance in May 2010 when her memory card was taken. Admitted thieves Lee Platt and Steven Malcolm, both of Manchester, initially tried to get £1,000 ($1,578) from the Manchester United star’s agent Paul Stretford. Later, they asked for £5,000 ($7,892) from Stretford.
According to the report, the pair approached Hello! magazine, among other publications, looking to sell Rooney’s memory card.
The two were eventually caught when Wayne’s agent called the police, who apprehended Malcolm and Platt in a sting operation later that year.
Platt ended up receiving a two-year jail sentence, and Malcolm received 20 months.
The memory card reportedly had pictures of Wayne Rooney when he was drunk, and the judge deemed that Platt wanted to show the pictures to “extort more money from the Rooneys.”
Wayne, who has played for Manchester United since 2004, has scored 13 goals in 20 Premier League games this season.
