Report: Jeff Carter Traded to Los Angeles Kings for Jack Johnson, Rick Nash Still Available

The Columbus Blue Jackets have finally gone through with the first blockbuster trade of 2012. And surprisingly enough, forward Rick Nash was not involved.

As the NHL trade deadline has inched closer and closer, rumors have been streaming out from Columbus regarding their towering All-star forward, Nash. But when the phone finally rang in Columbus' war room, it was Jeff Carter who was told to pack his bags.

Carter will be reunited with former Flyers teammate Mike Richards in Los Angeles, where the pair hope to return to their 2008 form when they were putting up a solid 80 points each.

In Jeff Carter, the LA Kings get a proven goal scorer who will certainly help the team get out of last place in terms of Goals scored.

The Blue Jackets acquire a young offensive defenseman in Jack Johnson, as well as a 1st round draft pick in return. Despite the teams' addition, the Blue Jackets are still a long ways away from becoming a playoff caliber team, let alone a contender.
