Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis earned an NFL-wide reputation for his impeccable ball security and hunger for the end zone.
He was as renowned in New England for the same things, but the local football fans appreciated his class, too. On Thursday, Green-Ellis displayed that class as he left town for Cincinnati.
Green-Ellis, who has never fumbled in his NFL career and scored 24 touchdowns over the last two seasons, signed with the Bengals this week. Before turning the page to his new team, he thanked his old one on Twitter.
Green-Ellis tweeted, "Pats Nation: First, I would like to thank Mr. Kraft and his family for giving me an opportunity to live my dream.
"Many thanks to Coach [Bill] Belichick and all the other coaches who [helped] develop me in my career in New England.
"How many ways can I thank my dedicated fans for your heart felt love and support -THANK YOU.Its been a blessing to be a Patriot. #MHK player"
