Magic Johnson spent much of his NBA career making others around him better. Los Angeles Dodgers fans are hoping that the Hall of Famer can do the same thing for their baseball team as part of the franchise’s new ownership group.
Johnson and the rest of his ownership group won an auction to purchase the Dodgers on Tuesday night for a little more than $2 billion.
The historic deal made for something of a buzz in the sports world on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, and Jose Canseco was among those who took notice.
In fact, the former major league outfielder took to Twitter shortly after the news was announced to lobby the new Dodgers owner for a job.
@magicjohnson congrats on buying dodgers need a 1b or pinch hitter of the bench? Will play for free. Will donate salary charity

Of course, the Dodgers already have a pretty solid first baseman in James Loney, but is Loney donating his salary to charity? Didn’t think so.
If for some odd reason Magic and the Lakers pass on Canseco, he does have something else going for him. Shortly after tweeting at Johnson, Canseco changed gears just a little bit.

Quote of the Day
“I don’t stop believing in a player until I see him stop believing in himself. I saw that the other day. I just thought that he came into the dugout and he had that look of wonderment, of wondering, that I don’t like to see. It’s not the time to be searching. You can’t go into the major league season searching. You have to be confident.”
