Marty Turco Gets Start, Defensemen Dennis Seidenberg, Adam McQuaid Out As Bruins Take on Islanders

BOSTON -– The Bruins clinched a playoff spot Friday night with Buffalo's loss to Pittsburgh. They still are looking to lock up the Northeast Division crown and the second seed in the East, but the security of knowing a postseason berth is now officially theirs will allow them to rest some key players.

That includes goalie Tim Thomas. He will get Saturday off with Marty Turco getting the start against the Islanders as the Bruins start a two-day trip in New York. Boston visits the conference-leading Rangers on Sunday.

Defensemen Adam McQuaid and Dennis Seidenberg both remain out as well. McQuaid did not make the trip after suffering a nasty cut over his eye, which was swollen shut after being hit into the boards by Washington's Jason Chimera on Thursday. Seidenberg did travel with the team, but will not play, missing his second game with an infection in his leg.

Mike Mottau returns to action against his former team, while Joe Corvo will remain in the lineup to round out the Bruins shorthanded defense corps.

Bruins coach Claude Julien confirmed those decisions to reporters in his pregame news conference, and also stated that the forward lines will remain the same. That leaves Daniel Paille as the healthy scratch once again.

Al Montoya will be in goal for the Islanders, while tough guy Michael Haley has been recalled from the AHL and will play on the fourth line with Jay Pandolfo and Matt Martin.

Paul Devorski and Don VanMassenhoven will be the referees, with Brian Mach and Brad Lazarowich working the lines.
