Sportsnet Takes Jab at ‘Dr. Mark Recchi,’ Jack Edwards In On-Screen Graphic During Canucks Game (Video)

The doctor is in, and his name is Mark Recchi.

When the Vancouver Canucks’ Henrik Sedin passed the former Bruin on the all-time consecutive games played list Monday night against the Minnesota Wild, the person who created the on-screen graphic for Sportsnet showing the feat had a sense of humor.

When Zdeno Chara checked Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty into a stanchion between the benches in Montreal last March, Recchi quickly defended his captain, saying the Canadiens embellished Pacioretty’s injuries so Chara would be suspended. Pacioretty ended up getting a concussion and fracturing a vertebra due to the incident.

Recchi was then given the nickname “Dr. Mark Recchi” for haphazardly diagnosing Pacioretty, and the moniker appeared on the on-screen graphic, seen in the video below. As if that jab wasn’t enough to get Bruins fans’ attention, the producer even tossed in a graphic of a laughing Jack Edwards. Whoever made it definitely isn’t a Bruins fan.
