Vote: Which NFL Storyline Has Been Most Annoying? When a big story develops in the sports world, the media fixation can be draining for the average fan, and there’s nothing worse than having to see the same faces on TV and online day after day after day.

The NFL has had its fair share of overexposed stories during the past few seasons, with the most recent example surrounding the Peyton Manning sweepstakes extravaganza. The hunt for Manning has turned into a 24 hour Peyton-watch, as every time Manning has moved, the cameras have followed him.

Whether it’s where his car has been spotted or where his plane is landing, everything that Manning has done has been analyzed. If Manning were to go to the bathroom in either, Denver, Tennessee or San Francisco, it would almost be assured that experts will be there to find out what that means for his immediate future.

The Peyton Hunt joins two other quarterback-related suffocating storylines. Tim Tebow took off for the Denver Broncos and led his team to a playoff victory this past season. In his wake was countless Tebow related stories ranging from his faith, to his ability to play quarterback. Tebowmania was so potent, that SportsCenter ran an entire one-hour Tebow special before the Broncos’ playoff game against the New England Patriots.

In a possibly nightmarish scenario, if Manning were to sign with the Broncos, Tebowmania and Manningpalooza would combine for one monstrous media story.

Of course, the father of overexposed quarterback related stories is Brett Favre‘s multiple retirements. In what was an annual occurrence, every single media entity would speculate whether this year was Favre’s final year in the NFL. It was a tradition that started in Green Bay, moved on to New York, then made its resting stop in Minnesota. The poor souls down in Mississippi would watch as media members would camp out to see if Favre would see his shadow and play four more years of football.

Favre’s situation is unique due to the fact that it did span over many years, making it a longer burn than the Manning and Tebow media circuses, but all three situation did share one common bond: fans get sick of hearing about them.
