Yankees Reliever David Robertson Hurts Foot After Falling While Carrying Empty Boxes

Another crazy AL East injury to start the 2012 season.

Rays ace David Price injured himself by toweling off between innings. Now, Yankees setup man David Robertson is sidelined thanks to carrying some empty boxes and falling down the stairs at his spring training home, according to CBSSports.com.

Robertson has a sprained right foot and could miss some time, even though the X-ray results were negative.

"They were empty boxes. They weren't even heavy boxes,'' said Yankees manager Joe Girardi. ''I told him to kick them down the stairs the next time.''

Robertson reportedly can't walk on the foot, and is experiencing pain when he puts too much pressure on it, which the Yankees skipper is worried about.

'''I'm concerned,'' Girardi stated. ''It hurt him to walk, [and] you assume that he's going to be down a little bit of time even if everything comes back OK. Now that doesn't mean he wouldn't have time to get ready for the season. But you've got to start over a little bit.''

Robertson appeared in his first All-Star Game in 2011, and compiled a 1.08 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 66 2/3 innings.

Hopefully, he will listen to Girardi and just kick the boxes down the stairs next time.
