D.C. United to Help Repatriate Bodies of Deceased Salvadorans

D.C United has committed, along with other organizations, to help in the repatriation of bodies of people who died in a Latino housing community. Five victims, some of whom hailed from El Salvador, died after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning on Tuesday.

The MLS club will make a donation to the Salvadoran Solidarity Fund (FOSSALEX in Spanish) to help with the cost sending the men back to their native country.

The Salvadoran embassy made the donation public when it thanked the American team via its official twitter account.

The men were found Wednesday in a housing complex within one of Washington D.C.’s Latino communities.

The local MLS team has a strong connection to the Latino community, which is a large part of the team’s fan base in the city and nationwide.
