According to promoter Bob Arum, the fight likely won't happen until 2013 if it does finally take place.
"I have to be realistic about this," Arum told Boxing Scene. "I don't think that Mayweather will be available in the fall to fight Manny. He certainly doesn't indicate that he wants to fight him now. I would think, probably, everybody would be better off if we thought about that fight [for] next year. But everything is open. First of all, Manny has a really tough fight with [Tim] Bradley. And secondly, depending on how things break, everybody would certainly agree that Juan Manuel [Marquez] deserves a rematch [with Pacquiao]. So I would think that would be what I'm focusing on."
Pacquiao is slated to fight the undefeated Bradley in Las Vegas on June 9, while Mayweather will begin serving a three-month jail sentence at the Clark County (Nev.) Detention Center on June 1 due to a domestic violence charge.
A fight between the two boxing icons has been discussed over and over, but it doesn't appear we're any closer to finally seeing it. The waiting game continues.
