Tim Wakefield made a living off his ability to throw a knuckleball, and he’ll soon be giving the world an inside look as his mastery.

Wakefield will be starring in a documentary called Knuckleball!, which aims to deconstruct the unpredictable and erratic pitch.

Joining the former Red Sox right-hander in the documentary are other current and former knuckleballers, including R.A. Dickey, Phil Niekro, Charlie Hough, Jim Bouton and Tom Candiotti. Wakefield’s pursuit of career win No. 200 is chronicled as part of the entertaining film, which was put together by acclaimed documentarians Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg.

The documentary will have a large scale premiere later on this summer, but it will screen on Saturday, April 28 at 4 p.m. ET at the Somerville Theatre as part of the 10th annual Independent Film Festival Boston. Tickets are $10 online in advance, and $11 at the door.
