Dave Roberts Steal Against Yankees in 2004 ALCS Is Ketel One Honorable Moment

The Red Sox were a championship-starved franchise for 86 years. In the 2004 ALCS, boston appeared primed for yet another fruitless season after falling behind 3-0 in a series against the rival Yankees.

One quick swipe of a base changed all that. Dave Roberts, who came over in a trade at midseason, stole second base in the bottom of the ninth inning to help tie up Game 4 at Fenway Park and force extra innings that saw David Ortiz becoming a hero.

The series ended up going back to New Yok and the Red Sox were able to make history, overcoming a three-game deficit and ultimately winning the World Series.

The historic moment was recognized this week as the Ketel One Honorable Moment.
